WTC 2023-25: India’s fixtures for the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) cycle 2023-25 have been announced, showcasing their hosting duties against England, Bangladesh, and New Zealand. The action-packed cycle is set to kick off with the highly anticipated Ashes 2023, commencing on 16 June.

The World Test Championship (WTC) commenced in 2019, and the inaugural cycle reached its conclusion with New Zealand securing a decisive 8-wicket victory over India in the WTC final held in 2021. Unfortunately, India suffered a 209-run defeat against Australia in the second final on Sunday.

What are India’s matches for WTC 2023-25?

England will feature in the highest number of games, with a total of 22 Tests. Following closely behind are the current finalists, Australia and India, with 21 and 20 matches respectively. Australia emerged as the top team in the ongoing cycle, with India securing the second position.

The highly awaited WTC 2023-25 cycle has generated immense excitement, featuring an impressive lineup of 27 series and 68 matches during the group phase over the span of two years. Kicking off this exhilarating cycle will be the eagerly anticipated Ashes, where Australia will travel to England for a thrilling five-match Test series scheduled from June 16 to July 31. The culmination of the cycle will witness a captivating one-time final, with the victorious team being honored with the prestigious mace.

Among the notable fixtures in the upcoming WTC cycle, the Border-Gavaskar Trophy holds significant anticipation as it brings together the two finalists of the WTC 2023 in an intense battle on Australian soil. The Indian cricket team, having reached the final twice before, will strive to achieve a remarkable hat-trick of victories in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC).

Team India will have the privilege of playing on home turf as they go head-to-head against New Zealand, England, and Bangladesh. This favorable situation could potentially give them an edge and contribute to a strong start in the tournament. On the other hand, India will face the arduous task of traveling to Australia, the West Indies, and South Africa for their away games, presenting a significant challenge for the team.

Will rule be changed in the WTC 2023-25?

The third cycle will witness the participation of nine teams, and there are no planned changes to the existing rules. A victory will earn a team 12 points, while a draw will result in four points and a tie will award six points. The final standings will be determined based on the percentage of points accumulated, considering that not all teams will play the same number of games.
