Yuvraj Singh Birthday

Yuvraj Singh Birthday: After a humiliating exit from the ODI World Cup in 2007, Team India was under the radar of fans for their poor-performance. Soon after that, India went on to play the T20World Cup (which they eventually won), under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, who was a newbie at that time. However, apart from several memories and records, there is one instance in which Yuvraj Singh turned the match in India's favour alone with his knock. People compare that knock of Yuvraj with Kapil Dev's iconic knock of 175* runs against Zimbabwe in 1983. On Yuvraj Singh Birthday let's have a look at his iconic knocks.

Yuvraj Singh's iconic knock came against England

The match was against England, and India were heavily under presurre. It was so because, after wnning against Pakistan in the first match, India had to suffer a close defeat against New Zealand. And, if India would have lost the third match against England as well, then their campaign in the World Cup too would have ended. So, when playing England in the first-ever T20I World Cup in 2007 in South Africa, former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh made history in the shortest format by smacking six sixes in a single over.

The ace batter hit six sixes in Stuart Broad's over and took just 12 balls to reach fifty, which is still an ubeaten T20 format record. The Men in Blue had won the toss and decided to bat first in that game between India and England. As soon as Robin Uthappa's wicket fell, Yuvraj entered the batting order, and his late flourish enabled India to score 218 runs. By a final score of 18 runs, India defeated England in the game. Yuvraj played a quick-fiery knock of 58* runs in 16 balls.

India's innings was in its 19th over when Yuvraj demolished Broad, hitting him for six sixes and pushing India's total beyond the 200-run barrier. Yuvraj was a key performer for the side during the 2007 ICC T20 World Cup, which the Men in Blue were able to win.

Yuvraj Singh: Inspiration for generations to come

The 38-year-old made history in 2011 when India won the World Cup, becoming the first all-rounder to score over 300 runs and take 15 wickets in a single tournament. With 362 runs and 15 wickets, the achievement includes four Man of the Match and Man of the Tournament honours.

Yuvraj made the decision to retire from all forms of cricket in 2019. Over the course of his 304 ODI, 58 T20, and 40 Test appearances, Yuvraj solidified his reputation as a player who could help his team win games with either his brilliant fielding, aggressive batting, or astute bowling.
