Yuzvendra Chahal sparks buzz with cryptic tweet post Asia Cup 2023 Squad omission – See here

Yuzvendra Chahal

Yuzvendra Chahal: Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has posted a mysterious message on social media following his exclusion from the Asia Cup 2023 squad, which was announced on August 21. Chahal’s performance in white-ball cricket has been less than satisfactory recently, having participated in just two out of the 12 ODIs played by India in 2023. His absence from both the matches against Australia in March and the recent ODI series against West Indies possibly indicated his impending omission from the 17-man Asia Cup squad, making it one of the most significant exclusions.

Yuzvendra Chahal tweets after Asia Cup 2023 omission

Shortly after the team roster was unveiled, Chahal took to Twitter (X) to convey his emotions about his omission. Chahal posted an emoji portraying clouds with a glimpse of the sun emerging through, and eventually, the sun becoming fully visible. This cryptic message might suggest that Chahal anticipates brighter days ahead, implying that his opportunity to prove his abilities will resurface.

Chahal’s performance in white-ball cricket has exhibited a tendency to be costly in recent periods. Although his One Day International (ODI) statistics over the past year and a half aren’t unfavorable, the remarkable resurgence of Kuldeep Yadav as India’s premier spinner in white-ball formats appears to have correlated with Chahal’s comparatively subdued performances.

In addition to Kuldeep, the selection includes Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel as the remaining two spin alternatives for the team. The fast bowling contingent features a total of five pacers, including the comeback of Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna after recovering from injuries.

Before their first match of the Asia Cup against Pakistan on September 2, the team will engage in a five-day training camp in Bengaluru starting from August 24. Subsequently, they will travel to Sri Lanka for the tournament.
