117 Schools of Eminence will ensure holistic development of the students: CM Mann at G-20 meet

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday said the G20 meet on education will prove to be a boon for the country and the state in particular as he sought experts’ opinion on bossing the sector. He said that he firmly believes that the summit will play a key role in uplifting the standard of education and will also benefit the youth of the state. 

Addressing a G20 meet on education in Amritsar, the Punjab CM expressed hope that efforts of the G20 meet will be clearly visible in economical growth of the country in general. He also lauded the continuous efforts made by the G20 for creating an environment of peace, understanding and international cooperation. The chief minister also highlighted the efforts made by the state government in the education sector.

117 Schools of Eminence

He said Rs 200 crore was kept aside for the up-graduation of the schools into the Schools of Eminence. “These world-class 117 Schools of Eminence will ensure holistic development of the students,” he said. He added the state government has proposed an outlay of Rs 17,072 crore for school and higher education for the coming fiscal year.

These schools will be helpful in enhancing skill sets of students, the CM said.

Punjab CM thanks Centre

The Punjab chief minister also thanked the Centre for oganising the summit in the holy city of Amritsar. Before partition, Amritsar was a prominent centre of trade, he said, adding government is making continuous efforts to set up their ventures in Amritsar. 

Health and education are the backbone of social development and stands committed to strengthen and expand these two critical sectors, CM Mann said.

The government has set up “Punjab Sikhya-te-Sehat Fund” that will act as a catalyst to transform the education and health sectors, he added.
