Rescue Mission Underway in Meerut Building Collapses
Meerut District Magistrate Deepak Meena said that “The incident occurred around 4:30 pm in the Zakir colony area of Meerut. As told by the family and relatives, 15 people were trapped in the debris of the house. All 15 have been rescued, 10 out of which have died and 5 are undergoing treatment… The area has been sealed and debris is being cleared. The rescue operation will go on till we find no possibility of any human life in the debris”
The rescue operation was swift, as police, fire services, and citizens converged on the scene to flush out the rubble and rescue anyone trapped inside it. The area has since been sealed off, with the clearing of the rubble remains as officials seek to ensure no one is left to be found under the wreck.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Orders Immediate Relief and Rescue Operations
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath condemned the incident strongly and asked for relief and rescue operations to take place immediately. On his instructions, teams arrived at the site in no time, and he ordered senior officials to hasten the work of rescue and provide due attention to the treatment of the injured ones at the hospital.
This tragedy has left the town reeling and brought to the surface issues such as diabolical infrastructure geared towards older ages, greatly exposing dangers related to extreme weather conditions. This collapse serves as a grim reminder of what is required of these structures-they need to be periodically assessed, especially in districts where rain and other environmental stressing factors weigh heavily.
