The Trinamool Congress of West Bengal is facing its most challenging situation as 58 of its rebel MLAs led by party rebel leader Ritabrata Banerjee have publicly questioned the authority of party leader Mamta Banerjee. They do accept Mamata Banerjee as their leader but are against the control of the party exerted by her nephew, Abhishek Banerjee.

Mamta Banerjee: Six Shiv Sena MPs Join Rebel Camp
As Uddhav Thackeray leads his Shiv Sena, he now faces additional turmoil with six members of parliament from his faction breaking away and joining Eknath Shinde’s faction of the Shiv Sena, which has continued to dominate the Shiv Sena since his faction’s split from the party in 2022. With this most recent rebellion, Uddhav’s side is becoming highly isolated within the parliamentary representation of the Shiv Sena.
Eknath Shinde’s Strategic Moves
Eknath Shinde is looking to weaken the Thackeray faction further, after he ended Uddhav Thackeray’s government in June 2022. Not only does Shinde’s team have the deputy chief minister position in Maharashtra, but they are continuing to attract rebels from Uddhav’s camp. Reports indicate that Shinde’s faction is currently working on trying to acquire additional MPs.
BJP Overjoyed at Shiv Sena Turmoil
The BJP is very pleased with the Shiv Sena rebellion and sees Uddhav Thackeray as a weak side. The result is clear. Shinde’s faction becomes stronger internally through more people being against them, therefore providing the BJP-Sena alliance with more stability from the BJP’s viewpoint.
