Kerala has experienced heavy rainfall in recent days, resulting in the displacement of thousands of people and the unfortunate deaths of three individuals. Two rivers have exceeded their danger levels, prompting authorities to caution against visiting beaches or hilly areas. The India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for the districts of Kannur and Kasaragod, while seven other districts have received orange alerts, indicating a second-stage warning.

2 River's In Kerala Crosses Danger Mark

The flooding, caused by rising river waters and damage to homes from fallen trees, has forced numerous people to seek shelter in 112 relief camps established across the state. Kerala's Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, stated in a Facebook post that three lives have been lost due to the heavy rains. Flash floods have occurred in Kannur and Malappuram districts, leading the Central Water Commission to issue a flood alert for multiple rivers. The Pamba and Manimala rivers, which flow through central and southern Kerala, have surpassed their danger levels.

As a precautionary measure, educational institutions in four districts have been closed. Fortunately, the intensity of rainfall in Kerala is expected to decrease tomorrow, and it is possible that the red and orange alerts may be lifted. In Karnataka, flood alerts have been issued for the districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi, resulting in the closure of educational institutions for another day.

Rainfall alerts have also been issued for Goa, leading to the closure of schools in the area. Tragically, a 56-year-old woman named Florina D'Souza was swept away by floodwaters while accompanying another woman to a paddy field in Naqueri Betul village, South Goa. The second woman managed to save her life by clinging onto a tree.
