Aam Aadmi Party leaders have accused the Enforcement Directorate (ED) of acting under political pressure after raids were reportedly conducted at locations linked to party members in Goa.
AAP leader Anurag Dhanda alleged that the central agency was being used to target opposition parties instead of focusing on issues such as drug money and terror financing, which he said were among the agency’s primary responsibilities.
Anurag Dhanda: Atishi Raises Concerns Over Goa Raids
Senior AAP leader Atishi claimed that ED teams carried out raids at the residence of AAP Goa co-incharge Deepak Singla and some party volunteers in Goa. According to her statement, the action was intended to intimidate party workers and affect the organization’s election preparations in the state.
Atishi also alleged that the raids were aimed at obtaining internal organisational information related to the party’s activities in Goa, where AAP has been attempting to expand its political presence.
Political Tensions Over Investigative Agencies
The allegations have added to the continuing political debate surrounding the role of central investigative agencies in India. Opposition parties, including AAP, have repeatedly accused agencies such as the ED and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) of selectively targeting political opponents.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the central government have consistently rejected such accusations, maintaining that investigative agencies function independently and carry out actions based on legal procedures and evidence.
