AAP’s national media in-charge, Anurag Dhanda, lauded the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government for swiftly compensating flood-affected farmers, while taking a sharp dig at the Haryana government for its inaction. He remarked, “Punjab has delivered results, while Haryana has only made promises.”
Anurag Dhanda Praises Punjab Govt for Timely Farmer Compensation, Taunts Haryana Over Delays
The Punjab government has started distributing ₹20,000 per acre as compensation to farmers whose crops were damaged by floods. Dhanda praised this timely initiative, saying it reflected the Mann government’s commitment to farmers’ welfare.
In a social media post addressing Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Dhanda questioned, “If Punjab can provide ₹20,000 per acre compensation within 30 days, why can’t Haryana?” He further criticized the BJP-led government in Haryana, saying, “The truth is, the intention to help farmers is missing.”
Dhanda emphasized that while both states faced heavy losses due to flooding
Dhanda emphasized that while both states faced heavy losses due to flooding, only Punjab acted decisively. Several regions in Punjab and Haryana suffered severe crop damage, particularly to paddy. However, while Punjab has already started distributing relief funds, Haryana farmers continue to wait for government action.
Praising Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s proactive governance, Dhanda added that the prompt disbursal of compensation within a month of the floods shows what “good intent and efficient administration” can achieve. He contrasted this with Haryana’s inaction, claiming that even crop assessment (girdawari) hasn’t been completed in several districts.
The comparison has sparked a political debate between the neighboring states, with AAP leaders highlighting Punjab’s efficiency and questioning Haryana’s slow response to farmers’ distress.
