AAP leader Anurag Dhanda questioned the Delhi Police over the reported delay in registering an FIR against Delhi PWD Minister Parvesh Verma after a video appeared to show the minister slapping a young man during a road inspection in Tilak Nagar.
In a social media post, Dhanda asked why an FIR had not been registered when the incident was captured on camera and directly addressed the Delhi Police, seeking an explanation.

The controversy began after a video circulated on social media showing Parvesh Verma confronting a young man during a road inspection. The footage appears to show Verma pushing down the man’s mobile phone before appearing to slap him.
The incident occurred during an inspection of road construction work in the Tilak Nagar area. The young man, identified in reports as Sahib Singh, said he was recording the proceedings while accompanying local AAP MLA Jarnail Singh.
Anurag Dhanda Seeks Action From Delhi Police
Reacting to the video, Anurag Dhanda questioned why an FIR had not been registered against the minister and asked Delhi Police to respond.
His remarks came amid demands from AAP leaders for action over the incident, while BJP leaders have defended Verma and presented a different account of the confrontation.
Parvesh Verma Gives His Account
Parvesh Verma has said the video being circulated does not show the complete context of the incident. He alleged that people accompanying Jarnail Singh abused his family, and said his reaction came during the confrontation.
Verma also alleged that the road inspection had followed a dispute over the quality of construction work and made allegations concerning the conduct of the local AAP MLA and his associates.
Complaint Submitted to Police
According to subsequent reports, Delhi Police received a complaint from Sahib Singh alleging that Verma slapped him during the road inspection. Police were reported to be verifying the facts of the complaint. Police also said that a previous assault case had been registered against the complainant.
Separately, complaints were also submitted alleging misconduct and obstruction involving AAP MLA Jarnail Singh and his associates in connection with the road construction site.
