Reacting to the deteriorating air quality, Dhanda termed the situation a serious public health emergency and questioned the Centre’s preparedness and response. In a post on social media, he said the rising pollution levels reflect administrative failure and demanded accountability from the Modi government.
Anurag Dhanda said that despite repeated warnings from environmental experts
With AQI levels entering the ‘severe-plus’ category, residents across Delhi-NCR are facing extreme health risks, including breathing difficulties, eye irritation and worsening of respiratory illnesses. Hospitals have reported a rise in patients complaining of pollution-related ailments, especially among children, the elderly and those with pre-existing conditions.
Anurag Dhanda said that despite repeated warnings from environmental experts and public health bodies, effective long-term measures to curb air pollution remain absent. He alleged that governments announce temporary steps every year, but fail to implement sustainable solutions to tackle vehicular emissions, industrial pollution and stubble burning.
The AAP leader urged the Centre to treat air pollution as a national crisis rather than a seasonal issue. He called for coordinated action involving the Centre and states, stricter enforcement of environmental norms and immediate relief measures to protect public health as pollution levels continue to soar.
