Arvind Kejriwal lauds CM Mann after Amritpal Singh’s arrest: ‘We are committed to protect peace and harmony in Punjab’

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has reacted to Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh’s arrest. Amritpal Singh was arrested in Punja’s Moga District on Sunday morning, confirmed Punjab Police. The AAP leader thanked the people of Punjab for maintaining law and order in the state.

Arvind Kejriwal reacts to Amritpal Singh’s arrest

Arvind Kejriwal shared Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s video message on Amritpal Singh’s arrest and wrote, “We are committed to protect the peace and harmony of Punjab. CM @BhagwantMann accomplished this mission with maturity and courage. Punjab Police achieved success without any bloodshed and firing. Many thanks to the public for maintaining peace and supporting the Punjab government during this period.”

‘We don’t do vendetta politics’: CM Bhagwant Mann

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann in a video message on Sunday said those who try to disturb peace and harmony will face action as per law. 

“Today, Amritpal Singh has been arrested after 35 Fays. Those who try to disturb peace and harmony and break the law of the country will face action as per law,” he said. “We will not trouble any innocent person. We don’t do vendetta politics, he added. 

Inspector General of Police (headquarters) Sukhchain Singh Gill, addressing a press conference post the arrest of Amritpal Singh, said that police had created relentless pressure on him.

“The police had credible information that Amritpal was in Rode. When Amritpal was left with no option, he was arrested… Police didn’t go inside the Gurudwara following maryada (limitations) of the gurudwara,” said the IGP. The IGP further informed that Amritpal was arrested under a joint operation by the intelligence wing and the Amritsar Rural Police.
