Bihar to Get Vande Bharat Sleeper Train Soon, Launch After Dussehra Confirmed by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw

For daily operations, at least two rakes are necessary, which explains why the Railway Ministry is waiting for the second rake to be ready before initiating services.

Vande Bharat Sleeper Train: Bihar is gearing up for the upcoming elections later this year, and ahead of the polling season, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has intensified campaign rallies across the state. Alongside, the Central Government has rolled out several initiatives aimed at improving the standard of living and convenience for the people. Bihar has recently seen the introduction of several trains, ranging from passenger services to Amrit Bharat, Vande Bharat, and the new Rajdhani Express.

Reports had suggested that a Vande Bharat Sleeper Train would be launched before Dussehra to provide fast and comfortable travel between Patna and Delhi. However, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw clarified on Tuesday that the train will be introduced only after Dussehra.

Key Details of the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train:

  • The first rake of the Vande Bharat Sleeper train has already undergone trial runs.
  • A second train is being manufactured, and both trains will be launched together to ensure regular services.
  • Currently, the first rake is stationed at the Shakur Basti coaching depot.
  • The second rake is expected to be ready by the 15th of next month, after which finalization of the route and commencement of services will take place.

Will Bihar Receive the First Train?

The BJP-led Central Government plans to launch the first Vande Bharat Sleeper train between Patna and New Delhi soon. The train is expected to cover the Patna–New Delhi distance in approximately 12 hours. For daily operations, at least two rakes are necessary, which explains why the Railway Ministry is waiting for the second rake to be ready before initiating services.
