Chief Minister Biren Singh reacts on Manipur violence

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh, who has faced severe criticism for the deteriorating law and order situation in the northeastern state, has asserted that he will not step down unless directed by the central leadership. Despite calls for his resignation from opposition parties, including the Congress, following the disturbing incident of two women being paraded naked in the troubled state, Biren Singh remains firm in his position.

Biren Singh stated that he was elected by the people of Manipur

In an exclusive interview, Biren Singh stated that he was elected by the people of Manipur, and he would not resign unless both the central leadership and the people of Manipur demanded it. As a member of the world’s largest political party (BJP) and the Chief Minister of the state, he emphasized that he must adhere to the orders of the central leadership. For the time being, his top priority is to restore law and order and bring peace to Manipur. He confirmed that no one from the central leadership has asked him to step down as Chief Minister so far.
