CM Chouhan Flags Off Special Flight, Elderly Pilgrims Take to the Skies

CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan: Senior citizens travelled by flight to Prayagraj, a sacred city recognised by the “teerth darshan yojana,” for the first time in the nation. On Sunday, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the chief minister, respectfully bid the pilgrims from Bhopal farewell. From the Raja Bhoj airport here to Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh, CM Chouhan signalled the start of the flight carrying the first batch of 32 senior citizens, including 24 men and eight women pilgrims.

CM Chouhan Honors Elderly Pilgrims at Recognition Ceremony

An elderly recognition ceremony was held at the airport prior to the departure of the pilgrims. Speaking to the crowd, CM Chouhan said that he had made a decision to transfer the old persons by plane, and that decision had been carried out that day. According to the programme, only one member of a family could go by plane on a pilgrimage up until now, but starting with the following journey, Chouhan said, pilgrims will be able to travel by plane with their wives. The CM declared that the plan to bring the pilgrims by rail and aeroplane will still be carried out regularly.

Madhya Pradesh Pioneers Air Travel Scheme for Financially Needy Seniors

Madhya Pradesh is the first state in the nation to offer air travel to elderly pilgrims who are in financial need after implementing the scheme’s air service. Chouhan added that about 7.82 lakh elderly residents of the state had already travelled on train pilgrimages as part of the programme. Such flights will still be scheduled to Shirdi, Mathura-Vrindavan, and Gangasagar in addition to Pryagraj, he said. Chouhan started the programme in 2012 to send elderly pilgrims on special trains, and it has continued ever since in the state. Later, after being motivated by CM Chouhan’s creative concept of showing respect to senior folks, numerous state governments adopted the programme.
