Congress Members Cleanse Vidhana Soudha with Cow Urine in Symbolic Act of Purity

Karnataka: In the wake of the Congress’s resounding victory and Siddaramaiah’s swearing-in as Karnataka’s new chief minister, party members cleaned and sanitised the Vidhana Soudha’s grounds with cow urine on Monday. DK Shivakumar, the head of the Congress in Karnataka, who took office as the state’s deputy chief minister on May 20, had suggested in January of this year that cow urine should be used to “cleanse” the Vidhana Soudha (Assembly).

“We’ll figure out a few things to clean the Vidhan Soudha. Shivakumar had stated, “I also have some ganjala (cow urine) for purification. Shivakumar claimed that “corruption during the BJP’s rule polluted the Assembly.” Days before the election on May 5, the Karnataka Congress published a bilingual “corruption rate card” that detailed the “scams” perpetrated by the previous BJP administration. The erstwhile Opposition party claimed that the state’s ruling BJP administration looted Rs 1,50,000 crore when they were in office, and the “corruption rate card” was published in both English and Kannada.

Congress Exposes Alleged Corruption in BJP’s “Double-Engine” Administration

Congress stated in the “corruption rate card” that a ministerial position costs Rs 500 crore and the cost of the chief minister is Rs 2,500 crore. The government demands alternative arrangements, the commission on the rate card stated, which Congress referred to as the “trouble-engine government” and called the BJP’s “double-engine” administration. It starts at a 30% commission for animal handouts, 40% for road contracts, and increases to a 75% commission on Covid-19 supply. Siddarmaiah was sworn in as chief minister for a second time after winning 135 seats in the recently-concluded assembly election in Karnataka, while DK Shivakumar, the chairman of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, was sworn in as his deputy. At least eight other Congressmen were sworn in as cabinet ministers in Karnataka on Saturday in addition to Siddaramiah and DK Shivakumar. 24 more ministers are yet to be chosen by the party.
