Dehradun News

Dehradun News: Its hard to believe one of most populous city of the state of Uttarakhand has been battling with piles of garbage which is contaminating the air of the Himalayan state.  One can see piles of garbage being scattered around the roads of the city resulting in foul smell and inviting mosquitoes and stray animals. On the other hand, the Municipal Corporation claims of sending trash vans to each and every door of the houses to collect garbage sounds like a myth. The 100 per cent door to door garbage collection is seen nowhere in the city.

Rain water over flowing in Open Drains

The Rains have added more to the abandoned and unclean roads which are covered with open piles of garbage being dumped by the locals due to the lack of proper trash vans in the city. The mud water is over flowing with the rain water and hasn’t been cleared by the Municipal authorities for long. One can witness garbage in many areas of Dehradun, for example lots of garbage can be seen outside kali Temple in Dehrakhas colony.

Garbage dumped in the pavements, buildings

Apart from the Residential areas, garbage can be seen thrown at the Pavements and open buildings of the city. Residents have thrown trash openly outside the Sanskriti colony and Punjabi colony. People have even dumped garbage in open drains like Dehrakhas Nala, Kanwali Road Nala. Despite the instructions being given by the authorities to sprinkle bleaching powder to  get rid of the smell, it was never implemented.
