Delhi Election Result: ‘2026 me Bengal ki Baari Hai’ Suvendu Adhikari’s Big Claim After BJP Wins Decisively in Capital, Should Mamta Worry?

As the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured a sweeping victory in Delhi after 27 years, party leader Suvendu Adhikari issued a strong warning to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her Trinamool Congress (TMC), stating that Bengal will be next in line for a BJP win in the 2026 Assembly elections.

Quoting India Today, Adhikari declared, “Dilli ki jeet hamari hai. 2026 mein Bengal ki baari hai (This is our victory in Delhi. It is Bengal\’s turn in 2026),” while addressing reporters on Saturday.

BJP Eyes West Bengal After Delhi Victory

The BJP, which serves as the primary opposition party in West Bengal, has been actively campaigning to unseat Mamata Banerjee, who has led the state since 2011. The next West Bengal Assembly elections, covering 288 seats, are set to take place in 2026.

Adhikari also criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), calling its exit from Delhi’s governance the end of \’AAP-da\’ (disaster) and asserted that Bengali voters in Delhi supported the BJP overwhelmingly.

“AAP-da ki vidaai ho gayi hai (The disaster has ended). The people have given them (AAP) a befitting reply. Only PM (Narendra) Modi can restore Delhi’s glory and make it a clean city. I campaigned in Bengali-majority areas, and the infrastructure there is in terrible shape. The BJP secured an easy victory in these regions,” he remarked.

BJP Leaders Confident of 2026 Victory in Bengal

Adhikari, Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, also took to social media to congratulate Prime Minister Narendra Modi for BJP’s dominant performance in Delhi.

Quoting India Today, he tweeted:

“Huge victory for @BJP4Delhi. I express my heartiest congratulations to Prime Minister @narendramodi ji for leading from the front and orchestrating this very special victory over \’AAP-da\’. Now, the people of Delhi will receive the benefits of a double-engine government as Mr. Farziwal (Kejriwal) has been swept out of power.”

He also thanked the Bengali community in Delhi for their support and acknowledged BJP national president JP Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and party workers.

Delhi Win Boosts BJP\’s Confidence in Bengal

BJP leaders in West Bengal echoed Adhikari’s sentiments, believing the Delhi victory will energize the party ahead of 2026.

Siliguri BJP chief Arun Mandal, as quoted by ANI, stated:

“Bengali people living in Delhi voted overwhelmingly for the BJP. In 2026, their families will vote for BJP in Bengal. People will vote against the corruption of the Trinamool Congress-led government.”

Meanwhile, West Bengal BJP president and Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar emphasized that the Delhi verdict reflected people\’s trust in development and would serve as a major morale booster for BJP workers in Bengal.

As BJP eyes a major political battle in West Bengal in 2026, Mamata Banerjee and TMC now face a renewed challenge from an emboldened opposition, which sees Delhi’s results as a stepping stone toward a bigger political shift in Bengal.
