The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued weather alerts for Delhi-NCR, warning of continued heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and possible waterlogging in low-lying areas. Residents have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel and remain cautious as the wet spell is expected to continue over the next couple of days.

In south Delhi’s Kalkaji, a large tree was uprooted following strong winds and heavy rainfall, blocking a section of the road and disrupting traffic. Civic authorities rushed to the spot to remove the fallen tree and restore normal movement. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.

In neighbouring Ghaziabad, a portion of the road near Atal Chowk in Vasundhara suddenly caved in after continuous rainfall weakened the surface. A car and a scooter fell into the sinkhole before local residents and officials responded.

The area was immediately barricaded, and repair work was initiated to prevent further accidents. The incident once again highlighted concerns over urban infrastructure and drainage systems during the monsoon season.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast more spells of moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds over the coming days. The weather agency has cautioned residents about the possibility of waterlogging, traffic congestion, reduced visibility, and localized flooding in vulnerable areas. Authorities have advised people to avoid unnecessary travel during periods of intense rainfall and to remain updated through official weather advisories.
