Delhi News: Thieves Cut Hole in Strongroom, Swipe Jewellery Worth ₹20-25 Crore

The owner of a jewellery business in Jangpura, South Delhi, was shocked by a brazen jewellery theft in which robbers made off with jewellery valued at 20–25 crore rupees.

Delhi News: Break-in perpetrators stole jewellery worth 20–25 crore from a store in Jangpura, south Delhi. The event happened between Sunday evening and this morning at Umrao Jewellers in the Bhogal neighbourhood. A hole was cut into the strongroom (locker) and CCTV cameras were turned off as part of the painstaking planning that resulted in this significant theft.

Burglars’ Meticulous Entry and Heist

According to officials, the burglars entered the four-story building by the terrace and made it to the ground floor, where the strongroom was, before leaving. In order to access the strongroom where the ornaments were stored, they then drilled a hole through its wall. Along with those, they also stole the jewellery that was displayed on display at the showroom before fleeing.

Jewelry Store Owner Finds Evidence, Police Review CCTV Footage

When the showroom’s owner unlocked it this morning after locking it on Sunday night, he found evidence of the theft. Mondays the store is still closed. The police are reviewing any footage captured by the CCTV cameras prior to the criminals disconnecting them. Nobody has been detained as of yet.

Robbers Cut Hole in Wall, Loot 32 Lockers Filled with Valuables

A similar incidence with robbers breaking into a cooperative bank in Ambala, Haryana, and stealing jewellery and other valuables was reported yesterday. According to authorities, they entered the bank through a hole in the wall they cut with a gas cutter and broke open 32 lockers. Since the bank was closed on weekends, the theft was only discovered on Monday morning.
