Delhi News: Will it be a dry day in the capital on 24th November? Check out

The Delhi government has officially declared November 24 as a dry day to commemorate the martyrdom day of Guru Teg Bahadur, the ninth Sikh Guru. This decision underscores the city’s respect for the religious and historical significance of Guru Teg Bahadur’s contributions to Sikhism. On this day, all liquor outlets, bars, and pubs will remain closed as a mark of reverence.

Revised Dry Day Schedule for Religious Observance

In a recent corrigendum issued by the excise department, changes were made to the dry day schedule. The revised order shifts the dry day from December 25 (Christmas) to November 24 in recognition of Guru Teg Bahadur’s martyrdom day. This alteration emphasizes the government’s commitment to accommodating religious observances and reflects the city’s cultural diversity.

Continuing Dry Day on Guru Nanak Jayanti

The dry day designation extends to November 27, marking Guru Nanak Jayanti, a significant Sikh festival commemorating the birth of Guru Nanak. During these dry days, the sale of liquor will be prohibited in Delhi as part of the government’s effort to honor and uphold the religious sentiments of its diverse population.
