Delhi Police intensifies security arrangements for Shab-e-Baraat and Holi

Delhi Police: The Delhi Police announced on Monday that it has taken extensive preparations for Shab-e-Baraat and Holi to ensure the safety of drivers and pedestrians, maintain traffic flow, and prohibit reckless driving and two-wheeler stunts.

759 traffic officers will also be stationed

Shab-e-Baraat, which will be observed on the intervening night of March 7 and 8, will be observed by more than 150 firm security workers other than police, 8,000 traffic police officers, and 9,000 municipal police, according to officials. Shab-e-Baraat is a day when Muslims around the world conduct prayers at mosques, houses, and next to the graves of their ancestors. About 600 pickets and 1,300 motorcycle patrol squads will be stationed throughout the city, according to the Delhi Police. At 283 key locations, 759 traffic officers will also be stationed.

Radar guns will be used to monitor instances of excessive speeding

The Delhi Police advise added that special traffic police teams, together with PCR and local police, will be stationed on various roads to check for drunk driving and traffic rule infractions because this year’s Shab-e-Baraat and Holi dates overlap. Moreover, radar guns will be used to monitor instances of excessive speeding. According to the warning, there will be special teams made up of 2,033 officers deployed for Holi at 287 important crossroads and 233 intoxicated and vulnerable locations.

Not to drive after drinking

“Furthermore, in accordance with the directives of the Supreme Court Committee on Road Safety, a driver’s licence will also be seized and subject to suspension for a minimum of three months in cases of drunk driving, red-light jumping, using a cellphone while driving, dangerous driving, and over-speeding. The warning advised people not to drive after drinking and to follow all traffic laws.
