Actually, it has been intended to sell 14 plots by auction as part of the GDA's Swarna Jayanti Puram Scheme. GDA officials had not previously taken notice of any of these 14 schemes. But after a PIL was filed in court, a survey was undertaken, and the GDA won 14 of the plots in Swarna Jayanti Puram that were not allowed to be sold.

14 Exclusive Swarna Jayanti Puram Plots on the Block

GDA has just started an auction programme to raise money. According to this plan, GDA property is put up for auction each Friday at Hindi Bhawan. People are bidding on GDA homes in the auction for less than the going rate. This time, the auction will also comprise 14 Swarnjayanti Puram scheme plots. Through these 14 plots, GDA is projected to make roughly Rs 10 crore in revenue. Following a survey, the 14 plots that had previously been prohibited from sale have been brought to the attention of GDA officials.

Historical Overview of Swarna Jayanti Puram Scheme

Actually, Swarna Jayanti Puram Scheme was introduced by GDA in 1998. Between 1998 and 2003, GDA floated a total of 11 schemes. People had purchased plots through draws using various schemes. Through the draw, 1583 plots in all were auctioned. There were some plots during this time whose purchasers were unable to make the installment payments. GDA halted the sale of these parcels. The GDA identified 139 such plots; however, between 2005 and 2007, these plots were rehabilitated. Additionally, a complaint was made in this respect to the Meerut Divisional Commissioner, and a PIL was also submitted to the court. GDA was given the task of surveying every plot in this PIL. GDA performed a survey and discovered that fewer plots were sold than were actually created. 14 of these plots were discovered at this time and were prohibited from being sold. There is no proof that items were sold, not even at the GDA finance department. Following this, the case of GDA officials' manipulation has come to light. However, GDA holds 14 of these plots that will now be sold through an auction.
