Ghaziabad News: Smooth Sailing Ahead! GT Road to Get a Makeover from Giani Border to Lal Kuan

A smoother commute is ahead of you! The extension and beautification of GT Road from East Delhi's Giani Border to Ghaziabad's Lal Kuan has received approval from the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.

Ghaziabad News: For those heading from Delhi to Ghaziabad, there is good news. The GT Road will be extended from East Delhi’s Giani Border to Ghaziabad’s Lal Kuan. The plan to widen and beautify GT Road from Giani Border to Lal Kuan has been approved by the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. This 14.4-kilometer road’s widening will set you back Rs 371.12 crore. There will be pavement construction on both sides of the street. Using this route will also remove congestion points.

Two Years to Transformation

This will be put out to bid by February 2024, and the bid will be closed by April. Following this, construction will begin in August. The goal is to finish this project in two years. For a period of five years, the construction company is responsible for the upkeep and repairs of the road. On the GT Road, there are currently traffic bottlenecks at more than 25 locations. It is said that, with this road’s widening, it will only take 20 minutes to travel from Giani Border to Lal Kuan, compared to the current one to one and a half hours.

Attention to the convenience and safety of drivers

  • Service roads will be provided on the sides and bottom of flyovers and elevated roads.
  • Park and gym will also be developed under the flyover and elevated road
  • The footpath on both sides of the road will be completely reserved by installing iron grills.
  • Traffic lanes will be reserved so that traffic is not affected in any way.
  • Power lines passing over the road will be underground, which will keep drivers safe.

Navigating the Future

Additionally, there will be a traffic-free alternate route that links the Delhi-Dehradun and Delhi-Meerut Motorways. The Giani Border is being built slightly ahead of the Delhi-Dehradun Motorway, which is expected to open by May 15 of next year. The Delhi-Meerut Motorway, on the other hand, goes through Lalkuan.
