Gurugram News: Gurugram is ready to launch 10 low, noise, low, emission model roads from January 2026 under a comprehensive plan to improve air quality, traffic discipline, and urban road safety. It has been mapped out as a pilot project, with traffic intensive corridors chosen for the subsequent stages. The officials have conveyed that the program will revolve around enhancing the daily travel experience and environmental objectives at the same time.

First Phase Main Roads

Gurugram News: Initial major stretches like MG Road and the connecting arterial routes have been singled out for the first phase. These roads witness the highest traffic volumes and are the links between the main commercial and residential areas. The model road scheme will be carried out in the areas of both East and West Gurugram, thus, ensuring that the important junctions and roads are adequately covered which are used by the commuters, public transport vehicles, and freight carriers.

Noise and Emission Reduction Measures

The model road proposal comes with several interventions to limit noise and air pollutants. These actions comprise dust, control methods, manual sweeping, clearance of the road, side waste, and establishment of honk, free zones. Separately from the vehicle traffic, cyclists will have a dedicated space, while pedestrian walkways will be upgraded, and road surface maintenance will be better, all these being elements of the design framework to support cleaner and quieter mobility.

Traffic management and safety measures

Traffic management is a pivotal element of the undertaking. Local government is looking forward to installing a series of measures such as synchronized traffic signals, enhanced road markings, clearer signage and improved street lighting. Smooth traffic flow will be facilitated through continuous CCTV surveillance and redesigned intersections, whereas safety monitoring will be strengthened by these means along the identified corridors.

Inter, Agency Coordination and Coverage

The policy is conducted through coordination among the traffic police, development authorities and municipal agencies. The comprehensive plan entails improvements at 33 roads and junctions. After that, the first set of model roads will be launched in January 2026, while a further extension will depend on the progress of the implementation and the departments’ operational coordination.
