A key highlight of Haryana’s farmer-friendly initiatives is the recent increase in sugarcane prices from ₹372 to ₹386 per quintal, making it the highest rate in India. Furthermore, the government has already announced a future price hike to ₹400 per quintal for the coming year, aiming to encourage sugarcane cultivation and provide financial stability to the farmers. This initiative not only boosts the agricultural sector’s growth prospects but also ensures economic empowerment for the farmers.

Additionally, the government has rolled out several schemes to enhance farmers’ welfare. Through the “Meri Fasal-Mera Byora” portal, an initiative for crop registration and tracking, around 12 million farmers have benefitted from direct transfers totaling ₹85,000 crores in the past seven seasons. The Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (Prime Minister’s Crop Insurance Scheme) has further bolstered farmer confidence, with 29.45 million beneficiaries receiving insurance claims worth ₹7656 crores. This scheme has mitigated the financial risks associated with crop failures, ensuring peace of mind for the farming community.
