Eleven out of 22 districts exhibited SRB below the state average, signaling a shift in gender dynamics. Explore the details, fluctuations, and efforts to address this concern in the state.

Challenges Across Districts

Rohtak, Mahendragarh, Sonepat, and eight other districts reported SRB below the state average of 916, indicating disparities in gender ratios. Rohtak, in particular, faced a substantial setback, plummeting from the 6th position to the last, recording an SRB of 883.

District-wise SRB Insights

  • Rohtak: Witnessed a significant drop of 51 points, marking a decline from the 6th to the last position.
  • Charkhi Dadri and Mahendragarh: Experienced declines of 36 and 20 points, respectively.
  • Rewari and Jhajjar: Though below the state average, both districts showed improvement with gains of 14 and 12 points, respectively.

Positive Shifts in SRB

Palwal emerged as a success story, topping the SRB tally with a notable improvement of 24 points. Panchkula, Fatehabad, and Nuh also showcased positive strides in SRB, signifying localized efforts to address gender imbalances.

Government Initiatives and Raids

Government initiatives, including three successful raids under the PC-PNDT Act in 2023, aimed to curb pre-natal sex determination tests. Two raids targeted an inter-state sex-determination racket in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. Special campaigns, especially in areas with poor sex ratios, were conducted, with expected positive outcomes this year.
