Indian Railways: Haryana Gears Up for a Historic Ride, Could the Jind–Sonipat Hydrogen Train Spark a Global Trend?

Indian Railways: Jind City, Pandu Pindara, Bhambhewa, Gohana Junction, Mohana and Barwasni would benefit from the country's first hydrogen-powered train between Jind and Sonipat.

Indian Railways: Indian Railways is all set to greet commuters this Republic Day with the country’s first hydrogen-powered train between Jind and Sonipat.

On January 26, the inaugural trial run is likely to happen with Prime Minister Narendra Modi expected to inaugurate.

The maiden trial’s preparations have been completed by Railways in collaboration with the Research Designs and Standards Organization (RDSO) and its Spanish partner Green H.

Features of Indian Railways Special Train

The Jind-Sonipat train would operate seamlessly with 2 driver power cars and 8 passenger coaches in total. It would run at speeds of approximately 150 kmph. The train’s system can store around 7,680 kilograms of oxygen and 3,000 kilograms of hydrogen.

The largest hydrogen production plant in India has been established in Jind. It is backed by a 1.5-megawatt power supply so uninterrupted fuel generation is also a reality.

The train coaches have been manufactured at Chennai’s Integral Coach Factory.
