Weather Update January 18 2026: Many parts in the states of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are likely to receive fresh snowfall

Weather Update January 18 2026: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted moderate to heavy rainfall in Southern states.

Weather Update January 18 2026-Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand

Many parts in the states of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are likely to receive fresh snowfall. Intense cold waves and chilling winds are likely to make normal lives challenging for residents. Parts of Western Himalayan Region Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit Baltistan-Muzaffarabad are likely to be embroiled in heavy snowfall.

Delhi NCR, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan

Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Sonipat, Panipat, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, Patiala, Jalandhar, Ferozepur, Karnal and Kaithal are likely to witness dense fog and unprecedented, bone-chilling cold waves.

Yamuna Expressway, Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, Delhi-Dehradun Expressway and Delhi-Meerut Expressway commuters are likely to face severe challenges while travelling. Commuters are advised to follow a high sense of care and maintain good distance with other vehicles.

Moderate rainfall, bone-chilling cold and dense fog are likely at Gurugram, Faridabad, Noida, Ghaziabad, Delhi, Meerut, Bijnor, Hastinapur, Saharanpur and Panipat.

Western Uttar Pradesh and Eastern Rajasthan may receive moderate to heavy rainfall, bringing the minimum temperatures down throughout the day.

West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha

Dense fog may prevail throughout the early morning and late evening & night hours in the states of West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Jharkhand and Odisha. Zero visibility is likely in Pantnagar and Udhampur.

Sikkim, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam

The IMD has predicted that the states of Sikkim, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam may witness dense to very dense fog, especially during the late evening and early morning hours.

Southern States, Puducherry and Daman & Diu

Puducherry, Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu and South Interior Karnataka are likely to witness heavy rainfall. Yanam and Rayalaseema may witness slight to moderate rainfall.
