Weather Update January 21 2026: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that several parts of Rajasthan including Jaipur, Bikaner, Hanumangarh, Churu and Shri Ganganagar are likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall. Parts of Western Rajasthan are likely to witness bone-chilling cold waves, especially during the early morning and late night hours.
Moderate fog is likely in Bihar, Haryana, Delhi, Saurashtra and Kutch.
Weather Update January 21 2026-Delhi NCR, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan
Visibility is likely to stay poor during early morning and late evening & night hours because of dense to thick fog because of stagnant air conditions over the Indo-Gangetic plains.
Kanpur, Noida, Meerut, Lucknow and Varanasi may experience low visibility. Patiala, Jalandhar, Ferozepur, Karnal, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Sonipat and Kaithal can expect the cold waves to continue for a while. Panipat, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur and Kapurthala may notice light to moderate rain.
Yamuna Expressway, Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, Delhi-Dehradun Expressway and Delhi-Meerut Expressway commuters are advised to maintain a good distance between vehicles.
West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha
Patna, Gaya, and Bhagalpur may notice persistent low visibility. Minimum temperatures are likely to rise by 2–3 °C that can reduce the intensity of fog overnight. The states of Rajasthan, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Odisha, especially Pantnagar and Udhampur, may witness moderate to thick fog.
Western Himalayas and adjoining Northwest India areas may experience two intense western disturbances in quick succession. This can result in moderate to heavy rainfall causing abrupt disruptions for travellers.
Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand
Several parts of Western Himalayan Region Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit Baltistan-Muzaffarabad and many regions in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand may notice rainfall or snowfall moderately.
Sikkim, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam
The north-eastern states of Sikkim, Manipur, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram and Assam may witness light rain in evening and thick fog in early morning hours.
Southern States, Puducherry and Daman & Diu
Many places over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands may experience light to moderate rain. Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana may notice slight drizzling in early morning or late night hours.
