Weather Update January 26 2026: Violent thunderstorms, gusty winds, heavy rainfall and monsoon-like mayhem are expected in many parts of the country.

Weather Update January 26 2026: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) is expecting violent thunderstorms, gusty winds, heavy rainfall and monsoon-like mayhem in many parts of the country.

Weather Update January 26 2026-Delhi NCR, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan

Ghaziabad, Noida, Delhi, Gurugram and Faridabad are likely to experience cold waves with little to moderate rainfall in some cases. Several parts in Rajasthan such as Sri Ganganagar and Jaipur may witness short bursts of rainfall, especially during early morning hours.

Rajpura, Dera Bassi, Nangal, Hoshiarpur, Baba Bakala, Malerkotla, Batala, Rampura Phul, Bassi Pathana, Khanna and Payal are likely to experience moderate to heavy rainfall. Some parts of Samana, Patiala, Fatehgarh Sahib, Amloh, Nabha and Anandpur Sahib may witness violent thunderstorms and heavy rainfall.

Ambala, Indri, Narayangarh, Thanesar, Panchkula, Guhla, Pehowa, Shahabad, Nilokheri, Radaur, Barara, Jagadhri, Kalka and Chhachhrauli are likely to witness heavy rainfall and thunderstorms. The residents of Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Sonipat, Panipat, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, Patiala, Jalandhar, Ferozepur, Karnal and Kaithal are advised to observe a high sense of care and diligence while moving out as heavy rainfall is predicted.

Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand

Dehradun, Haridwar, Nainital, Pauri Garhwal, Chamoli, Shimla, Kullu, Mandi, Kangra, Kinnaur, Almora, Pithoragarh and Tehri Garhwal are likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall. Anantnag, Baramulla, Budgam, Doda, Jammu, Kathua and Uttarkashi may receive moderate to heavy rainfall and snowfall.

Sikkim, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam

Namchi, Mangan, Shillong, Tura, Dharmanagar, Itanagar, Tuensang, Aizawl, Lunglei, Champhai, Imphal, Thoubal, Bishnupur and Agartala are likely to receive dense to thick fog, especially during early morning hours. Jowai, Kohima, Dimapur Guwahati may also experience thick fog.

Southern States, Puducherry and Daman & Diu

Several parts of Kalaburagi, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Guntur and Tirupati are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall.

Mysuru, Mangaluru, Hubballi-Dharwad, Puducherry, Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Tiruchirappalli, Salem, Bengaluru, Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode, Thrissur and Kollam may also receive light rainfall with thunderstorms.

West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha

Durgapur, Raiganj, Krishnanagar, Nabadwip, Medinipur, Jalpaiguri, Shantipur, Dankuni, Dhulian, Ranaghat and Haldia are likely to witness poor visibility due to thick fog.

Bardhaman, English Bazar, Baharampur, Habra, Kharagpur and Balurghat may receive light rainfall.
