Widow Pension Scheme: The Haryana Government has introduced a comprehensive scheme aimed at providing financial security to poor girls, widows, and destitute women, particularly from Scheduled Castes (SC) and Backward Classes (BC). This scheme, part of the Government-to-Citizen (G2C) services, is accessible through online applications on the Saral Haryana portal.
Haryana Pension to Widows and Destitute Women Scheme:
First launched in 1980-81, this scheme aims to provide social security and financial assistance to women who cannot sustain themselves. Over the years, the pension amount has been progressively increased, reflecting the government’s commitment to supporting these vulnerable groups:
- Rs. 50/month at the scheme’s inception.
- Rs. 1,000/month from 1st January 2014.
- Rs. 1,200/month from 1st January 2015.
- Rs. 1,400/month from 1st January 2016.
- Rs. 1,600/month from 1st November 2016.
- Rs. 1,800/month from 1st November 2017.
- Rs. 2,000/month from 1st November 2018.
- Rs. 2,250/month from 1st January 2020.
- Rs. 2,500/month from 1st April 2021.
Eligibility Criteria:
To qualify for this pension scheme, a woman must:
- Be 18 years or older.
- Be a domicile of Haryana and have resided in the state for at least one year at the time of application.
- Have an annual income of less than ₹2,00,000 from all sources.
- Fulfill one of the following conditions:
- Be a widow.
- Be a destitute woman without a husband, parents, or sons.
- Be a destitute due to the desertion or physical/mental incapacity of her husband (for married women) or parents (for unmarried women).
Application Process:
Applications can be submitted both online through the Saral Haryana portal and offline through E-Disha Centers or Atal Seva Kendras.
This scheme underscores the Haryana Government’s commitment to providing social security and ensuring no financial hurdles for the marriage or welfare of girls from poor and vulnerable families.
