Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has directed the Godda Deputy Commissioner to take immediate cognisance of a report concerning a man who was allegedly living in a hut without access to several basic government welfare benefits.

Responding to a report shared by The Followup on social media, Soren instructed the Godda DC to look into the matter and ensure that the concerned person is connected with all eligible government schemes.

The report highlighted the situation of Shankar Manjhi from Godda, who was allegedly living in a hut without an Aadhaar card, pension or housing support.
Taking note of the report, Soren tagged the Godda district administration and asked officials to take immediate action and inform him after necessary assistance is provided.
The Chief Minister’s intervention underlines the administration’s focus on ensuring that eligible beneficiaries are connected with government welfare programmes. Such schemes are intended to provide support in areas including housing, social security and access to essential government services.
The direction also calls for coordination between the district administration and relevant departments to assess Manjhi’s eligibility and facilitate access to the schemes for which he qualifies.
