Jharkhand: The Hemant Soren-led Jharkhand Government has introduced new School Management Committee (SMC) Guidelines aimed at improving school governance, increasing community participation, and creating safer, more inclusive learning environments for students across the state.

The Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC) said the revised guidelines reinforce the important role of parents, teachers, local representatives, and community members in the effective management and development of government schools. The initiative seeks to promote transparency, accountability, and collaborative decision-making at the school level.
Strengthen School Governance in Jharkhand
In a message accompanying the launch, Manoj Kumar (JES), Administrative Officer, JEPC, highlighted that the systematic implementation of the new SMC Guidelines would help strengthen school governance and improve the overall functioning of educational institutions throughout Jharkhand.
The government has urged all schools and stakeholders to constitute and strengthen their School Management Committees in accordance with the new guidelines. Officials said the initiative is designed to ensure child-friendly, inclusive, and learner-focused schools while encouraging active community involvement in the education system.
The move is part of the Jharkhand Government’s broader efforts to enhance the quality of education through better governance, stronger institutional accountability, and greater public participation in school management.
