Kanpur News: Income Tax Commissioner Loses Rs 1 Lakh to Cyber Fraudsters via Amazon Vouchers

Kanpur News: Cyber thugs made the Principal Commissioner of Income Tax a victim of fraud in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. When she came to know that she had been a victim of fraud, she went to the police and lodged a complaint. Police has registered a case and started investigation.

According to the information, cyber thugs cheated Kanpur Principal Income Tax Commissioner Preeti Jain Das in the name of gift voucher by sending a message on WhatsApp. On July 21, cyber thugs sent a message on WhatsApp saying that they would get gift vouchers worth 10,000. These messages came in the name of the Chief Commissioner. On this, Income Tax Chief Commissioner Preeti bought gift vouchers worth one lakh rupees and sent them to that group.

Preeti Jain had bought gift vouchers worth fifty thousand each twice. After this, when the cyber thugs again asked him for gift vouchers worth Rs 50,000 for the third time, he got suspicious. After this he spoke to the Chief Commissioner. On this it came to know that the Chief Commissioner had not made any such demand. Nor was any such message sent.

When the investigation was done, the secret of cheating with many officers was revealed

When the matter was investigated, it was found that cyber thugs made many Income Tax officials victims of fraud in a similar way. The thugs had sent messages on WhatsApp on the mobiles of the officers. All these messages were in my the name of the Chief Commissioner.

Principal Commissioner of Income Tax Preeti Jain has lodged an FIR after being a victim of fraud. Police ADCP Ashok Kumar Singh says that by registering an FIR, the investigation of the matter has been handed over to the cyber cell. It is surprising that cyber thugs have now started targeting big departments as well.
