Abhijeet Dipke: What Was Said at Midnight: Around midnight on Sunday, CJP spokesperson Saurav Das claimed on X that the government is planning to arrest him, Abhijeet Dipke, Ashutosh Ranka, Ratna Singh and other party leaders. He said the party has always been ready to face jail or worse, and called the move a big mistake.
DON'T MISS
Dipke posted a pointed question to Amit Shah
“Kitno ko arrest karoge?” He added that the entire country will arrive on October 10. The posts were widely shared overnight and quickly became a talking point online.
Das also urged people across India to make the protest the biggest mobilisation yet, saying dictatorial actions will no longer be accepted by young people. These are the party’s claims, and no official confirmation of any planned arrests has been reported so far.
Why the Tension Is Rising
The warning comes after Friday’s protests in Delhi and Mumbai, where Delhi Police detained more than 700 people as demonstrators marched towards Jantar Mantar. The agitation centres on the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls and the demand that Kumar step down, following reports that the two Election Commissioners had repeatedly objected to decisions taken by the commission.
Dipke has said that if police try to stop the march, wherever they stop it will become their Jantar Mantar. The Indian Youth Congress has also announced that it will head towards the site.
Expect tighter security in central Delhi as October 10 approaches, along with a possible repeat of prohibitory orders near Jantar Mantar. Whether any CJP leaders are actually detained will be the biggest question. The Supreme Court proceedings on Kumar’s future and the opposition’s push for an impeachment motion will keep the pressure on.
