Madhya Pradesh: Interstate drug mafia who operated on ‘Pushpa’ level arrested with drugs worth Rs. 6.5 crores | Details here

Madhya Pradesh: In a significant breakthrough against the interstate drug cartel, Mandsaur police detained an interstate drug smuggler and seized 65 kg of opium worth Rs 6.5 crores. This is the largest anti-opium trafficking operation Madhya Pradesh ‘s Mandsaur Police has ever done.

According to SP Anurag Sujania, a tip-off led the police to learn that a 10 wheeler vehicle carrying bamboo, registration number RJ43GA5582, was travelling in the direction of Mandsaur. The driver of the truck is a ruthless smuggler from Jodhpur who was transporting large amounts of illegal opium along various routes from the North East, which is about 3000 kilometres away from many states. He makes space in the truck’s cabin for drugs.

Accused Shravan had been dealing drugs for long time

He has been dealing drugs for many years, according to information the police possessed, but they have not been able to capture him until now. The police blocked off the Mhow-Neemuch highway’s block with number 10 after receiving the information. When the police squad saw the truck approaching, they attempted to stop it. The smuggler attempted to flee, but the vehicle and he were both apprehended because of the tight barricade. His truck was thoroughly searched by the police.

Then, 13 packages totaling 65 kg of illegal opium were discovered in the cabin behind the driver’s seat, wrapped in tape. These packages were duly taken from the accused Shravan Kumar, a resident of the Jodhpur district, and placed in evidence. He was taken into custody on suspicion.

Shravan used to transport opium across states

During questioning, accused Shravan Kumar admitted to the authorities that he had been operating a long illegal opium business, transporting big amounts of the drug from the North East to Rajasthan. Shravan Kumar was also the owner of the truck from which the opium was being delivered. The aforementioned opium was intended to be transported to Jodhpur from Imphal (Manipur). They were previously accused of using various strategies to import opium from the North East.
