FIFA World Cup 2022: In what turns out to be a breaking news, Agra can be related to the FIFA World Cup that is now taking place in Qatar. The trophies and gift boxes used in the international competition, according to Adziran, owner of a local gemstone producing business, were manufactured by his company.

Adnan Sheikh, the proprietor of the company said, “Agra’s handicraft workmanship and mosaic carvings are in great demand in many countries. This art has played a very important role in enhancing the beauty of the Taj Mahal and is thus known worldwide.”

Pure Gold and expensive gemstone used for production

In Agra, Jaipur, and Moradabad, according to Adnan Sheikh, the trophies and boxes were produced. In order to create 2,000 boxes, it is said that about 300 individuals worked for approximately three months.

Adnan continued further by saying, “The trophies were crafted from natural semi-precious stone – Natural Lapis Lazuli Gemstone. It has bronze work on it, and plating of 24 carat gold has been done on it. The FIFA logo on it is made through pure gold. Although the weight of a gift box is about 15 kg, it took us almost three months to make them.”

Production of items was confidential

He also said that a major part of the order has already the host nation. “The design was finalized by the top leadership of Qatar in consultation with FIFA and a team of global experts. The trophy weighing 2 kg is made of red jasper stone. The box’s interior is leather silk.”

The production was done in complete security as Adnan continued by saying “For about a year-and-half, we were not aware that the products will be given to players in the ongoing World Cup. We put the FIFA logo on the items about three months ago and were also made to sign a contract that we won’t use this design for other products.”
