Madhya Pradesh is set to introduce artificial intelligence-powered digital tourism guides at major tourist destinations, allowing visitors to access information in 130 Indian and foreign languages. The initiative aims to make tourism more accessible for domestic and international travellers by reducing language barriers.
According to a report by Dainik Jagran published on October 27, the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board will deploy a digital tourism assistant called NiVU AI in collaboration with Explurger Private Limited. The agreement for the project was signed during the Madhya Pradesh Travel Mart held in Bhopal.
DON'T MISS
The AI-powered guide will enable tourists to interact through voice and text in their preferred language. Visitors will be able to obtain information about the history, cultural and religious significance of tourist destinations, along with details about transport and hotels.
Madhya Pradesh to Initiate QR Codes to Provide Instant Tourist Information
Under the initiative, QR-code-enabled information boards and kiosks will be installed at selected tourist locations. Travellers will be able to scan a QR code using their mobile phones or laptops to access the digital guide through a browser.
The service is designed to be accessible without downloading a separate application, registering an account or making a payment. The AI assistant will also offer travel recommendations and customised itineraries based on visitors’ interests.
First Phase to Cover 50 Tourist Destinations
According to the report, the first phase aims to introduce the AI guides at 50 tourist destinations by January 2027. In the second phase, the initiative will be expanded to 100 major tourist locations across Madhya Pradesh.
The complete project is expected to take around three years. The company has also begun surveying important tourist sites to prepare for implementation.
AI Guides Planned for Simhastha 2028
The technology is also expected to be used during Simhastha 2028 in Ujjain, when the city will welcome pilgrims and visitors. Multilingual digital assistance could help travellers access information about religious sites, local attractions and travel arrangements.
According to the report, these insights could support tourism planning, destination development, marketing strategies and future policy decisions.
