Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has announced that the ₹6,000-crore hydropower project in Neemuch district is ready, with electricity generation expected to begin by March 2027. The 2,000 MW project is expected to strengthen the state’s power generation capacity and expand its presence in the renewable energy sector.
DON'T MISS
Speaking to reporters in Indore on November 5, the Chief Minister said the project, being developed by a private company, would become fully operational by March next year. He described it as one of the largest projects of its kind in Asia.
First Turbine Expected to Become Operational in December: Neemuch Hydropower
According to Mohan Yadav, the first turbine of the project is scheduled to become operational in December 2026. The remaining capacity is expected to be brought into operation in phases, with the entire 2,000 MW facility targeted for commissioning by March 2027.
The project represents a major investment in Madhya Pradesh’s energy infrastructure. Once operational, it is expected to add substantially to the state’s electricity generation capacity and support its growing energy requirements.
Boost to Madhya Pradesh’s Renewable Energy Sector
The Chief Minister said the project would give Madhya Pradesh a stronger identity in the renewable energy sector. The development is part of the broader focus on expanding power infrastructure and increasing the state’s capacity to meet future electricity demand.
The ₹6,000-crore investment also highlights the role of private-sector participation in developing large energy projects in the state. Its commissioning is expected to bring further attention to Neemuch as an important location for energy-related infrastructure.
