Mohan Yadav: Madhya Pradesh to Launch ‘State AI Mission’ to Boost Governance and Public Services

By leveraging artificial intelligence, the government aims to enable early risk detection and improve decision-making capabilities across departments.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has announced the launch of a ‘State AI Mission’ aimed at accelerating governance and development in Madhya Pradesh through the use of advanced technologies.

The proposal was shared during a cabinet meeting, where ministers were briefed on the initiative designed to make government systems more efficient, transparent, and citizen-centric.

Mohan Yadav: AI to Strengthen Key Sectors

The State AI Mission will focus on critical sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, nutrition, and disaster management. By leveraging artificial intelligence, the government aims to enable early risk detection and improve decision-making capabilities across departments.

This is expected to enhance service delivery, minimize losses in vulnerable sectors, and ensure timely interventions during emergencies.

Phased Implementation Plan

The mission will be implemented in a phased manner:

  • 2026–27: Foundational preparation, including infrastructure and capacity building
  • 2027–28: Large-scale implementation across departments
  • From 2028 onwards: Establishing AI as a permanent institutional capability within governance systems

Data-Driven Governance Push

Officials indicate that the mission will emphasize building a robust data ecosystem, including integrated data platforms and real-time analytics dashboards. This will allow departments to track schemes, monitor outcomes, and make evidence-based policy decisions. The use of predictive analytics is expected to reduce inefficiencies and plug leakages in welfare delivery.

Focus on Capacity Building and Innovation

The government is also likely to invest in training officials and collaborating with academic institutions, startups, and technology partners. Skill development in AI and data science will be promoted to ensure that the workforce is equipped to handle emerging technologies and implement solutions effectively at the grassroots level.

Citizen-Centric Service Delivery

A key objective of the mission is to improve citizen experience by making services faster and more accessible. AI-powered systems such as chatbots, grievance redressal tools, and automated service platforms could be introduced to ensure timely responses and reduce bureaucratic delays.

Strengthening Disaster Preparedness

In disaster management, AI tools can help in early warning systems, risk mapping, and resource allocation. This will enhance the state’s preparedness for natural calamities, ensuring quicker response times and better coordination among agencies.
