MP Assembly Election 2023: Congress Files Complaint Against Shivraj Singh Chouhan and PM Modi for Alleged Violation of MCC

MP Assembly Election 2023: A delegation from the Madhya Pradesh Congress has lodged a complaint with the state election commission, accusing Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Prime Minister Narendra Modi of delivering a political speech at a government event in Chitrakoot.

KK Mishra, Chairman of the state Congress unit’s media department, claimed that CM Chouhan, a candidate from Budhni assembly constituency in Sehore district for the upcoming state assembly polls, violated the model code of conduct by participating in the government program and delivering a political speech.

CM Chouhan participated in government program in Chitrakoot

CM Chouhan is a candidate from Budhni for upcoming state assembly elections and despite being a candidate, he participated in the government program in Chitrakoot. Chouhan also gave a political speech in the program and it was a violation of the model code of conduct,” Mishra said.

Mishra called for the registration of a case against PM Modi and CM Chouhan for this alleged violation. Additionally, the Congress leader raised concerns about election duty staff officers being deprived of their voting rights and called for them to receive ballot papers.

Staff officer should not be deprived of voting rights

The congress leader further added, “The second issue is that the staff officers who are out of their constituency due to election duty should be given ballot papers which are not being given as of now. They should not be deprived of voting rights.”

The delegation expressed confidence in the State Election Commission to impartially investigate both cases and take appropriate action. Madhya Pradesh is one of the five states holding elections this year, with polls scheduled for November 17 and vote counting on December 3 in the 230 Assembly constituencies.
