MP Boat Mishap: A tourist cruise boat capsized at Bargi Dam in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur district, prompting emergency rescue operations at the spot. The incident has caused shock across India and raised concerns over safety arrangements during tourist boat rides.

The Accident: From Relaxation to Disaster

The disaster took place in the waters surrounding Khamariya Island in Jabalpur, when the state tourism department’s cruise boat capsized amidst a fierce storm. It is believed that the boat had been carrying roughly 29 tourists, who were involved in the accident when the boat capsized due to strong winds and turbulent waters.

Casualties and Missing Passengers

As per the latest reports, at least 9 tourists have died, while there are many more who are still missing, giving rise to concerns about rising casualties. 

Rescue Efforts in Full Swings

As soon as this tragic news emerged, teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) arrived at the scene and initiated a rescue mission. The rescue mission took place all night long amidst adverse conditions, which made it very hard for the team members to search for any missing people.

What Was the Cause of the Accident?

It is clear from the reports that the mishap was largely due to the adverse weather conditions that included storms and gales. This led to a loss of balance in the boat, resulting in the unfortunate event.
