Pilot & co-pilot die after trainer aircraft crashes in Madhya Pradesh

A charter plane crashed in Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh on Saturday afternoon. A pilot and a trainee pilot were on board the aircraft. Both died. One’s body was seen burning between two rocks. On information, the police has rushed to the spot.

The accident took place on the Bhakkutola-Kosmara hill between Lanji and Kirnapur in Balaghat district. ATC Gondia AGM Kamlesh Meshram said that trainee pilot Rukashanka Varsuka and instructor Mohit have died in the incident.

Balaghat SP Sameer Saurabh told that this plane was a trainee aircraft, which had flown from Birsi airstrip in Gondia district of Maharashtra. The spot is about 40 km from Balaghat district headquarters.

The incident took place around 3.20 pm. The plane had taken off from the Birsi airstrip about 15 minutes before the accident. At present the rescue team has reached there. The reason for the accident is not yet known.

Where the plane has fallen, there are mountains on both sides

Where the plane fell in Balaghat district, there are mountains on both sides. The wreckage of the plane has been found in a 100 feet deep gorge in the middle of the mountains. Due to dense forest and hilly area, the rescue team and officers are facing problems in reaching the spot. To reach the accident spot, about 7 km of forest and mountain path has to be covered on foot. After the accident, the SP of Gondia district of Maharashtra, along with the medical team, the Hawk Force jawans have left for the spot with a stretcher.

Even before this there was a victim of a plane crash

Pilots are trained at Birsi airstrip in Gondia, Maharashtra. Many times planes fly from here towards the border of Madhya Pradesh. Earlier in April 2017, a trainee plane had crashed in Lavani Pura village of Khairlanji tehsil of Balaghat district. Then the contact of the aircraft with ATC (Air Traffic Control) was lost. After this, the plane collided with the tree and the tower of the ropeway and fell into the river.
