Mungeli Chimney Collapse: A tragic incident unfolded earlier today when a chimney collapsed at a steel plant in the Saragaon area of Mungeli district. The collapse occurred during the afternoon, leaving several labourers feared trapped under the debris. Mungeli Superintendent of Police (SP) Bhojram Patel confirmed the incident, stating that a silo—an iron structure used for storing bulk materials—crashed, trapping workers present at the site.

Rescue Operations in Full Swing

Following the collapse, a rescue operation was immediately launched. According to SP Patel, two injured workers were rescued from the site and transported to a hospital in Bilaspur for urgent medical attention. “Many more workers are believed to be trapped under the collapsed structure,” Patel said, adding that all possible efforts are being made to pull them out safely.
