A father-son duo lost their lives in the Jafrabad area of Murshidabad and one man sustained a bullet injury, according to media reports. Anti-Waqf protests took a violent turn last Tuesday in the Muslim-dominated Murshidabad district of West Bengal. Amid ongoing violent protests, State Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee stated that the Waqf bill will not be implemented in West Bengal. BJP-led Suvendu Adhikari has suggested that the state should opt for the Centre’s help.
Fresh Violence Kills Father-Son Duo
In the Jafrabad region of Murshidabad, a father and his son were found dead, as stated by police. According to various media sources, locals found the dead bodies sustaining multiple stab wounds. The father and his son were allegedly killed by a mob involved in the anti-Waqf protests.The protests have now turned fatal, and the local police and administration are receiving fresh criticism for being biased and inefficient.
“One Man Sustains Bullet Injury, Shooting Might Have Originated from BSF” – ADG
One man has sustained bullet injuries in the Dhulia area of Samserganj. He has been admitted to the hospital. According to India Today, ADG Jawed Shamim said that the shooting might have originated from the BSF. BSF is also being used to maintain the law and order situation in many parts of Murshidabad.
“Act Would Not Be Implemented in West Bengal” – Mamata Banerjee, BJP to Launch Protests
Amid the ongoing violent protests in West Bengal, Mamata, while appealing for peace and harmony, said that “Waqf Act would not be implemented in West Bengal.” She further added, “My sincere appeal to people of all religions, please remain calm, remain restrained. Do not engage in any irreligious behaviour in the name of religion. Every human life is precious; do not incite riots for the sake of politics.”She has received sharp criticism from opposition BJP. BJP is also expected to launch their counter-protests against the anti-Waqf protest.
