After the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) appointed veteran officer Seema Pahuja to take charge of the probe into the Disha Salian case, the probe has entered yet another phase. Previously, Seema Pahuja had handled high-profile cases such as the RG Kar case and the Hathras case.

Seema Pahuja takes charge of Disha Salian investigation
Currently serving as SP in the CBI’s Special Crimes Unit based in Delhi, Seema Pahuja will conduct the investigation in the case. She will be assisted by a team that includes Deputy SP Puran Kumar.
Investigation of major criminal cases
Previously, Pahuja has conducted the investigation in several major cases. Her previous experience of conducting investigations in sensitive criminal cases has helped her get the assignment of investigating the case against Disha Salian.
Statements of persons at the gathering will be recorded
In this probe, the CBI team will likely take statements from people attending a gathering held at the Mumbai residence of Rohan Roy a day before Salian was killed. Apart from this, the CBI will likely review the case records and evidence.
FIR filed by CBI
In pursuance of a directive from the Bombay High Court for a central investigation in connection with Salian’s death, which took place in 2020, an FIR was filed by the CBI. This FIR has named some people who need to be investigated; however, according to the court, no one needs to be considered an accused unless there is evidence.
A new chapter in the case
The appointment of Pahuja has added yet another chapter to the lengthy ongoing case. CBI will investigate the evidence collected thus far.
