Noida News: NHAI Ambitious 35-Kilometer Road Project Takes Center Stage, Will Improve Noida and Greater Noida Connectivity

Examine Noida's innovative plan to build a 35-kilometer elevated road over the Yamuna embankment in order to improve Noida and Greater Noida's connectivity.

Noida News

Noida News: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) indicated that it would not be willing to fund the project, hence the Noida Authority is considering a proposal to construct a 35-kilometer elevated road above Yamuna embankment road. For this initiative, it is working on a number of funding possibilities.

Strategic Linkage

The proposed road would link with the Yamuna Highways close to Greater Noida’s Pari Chowk and relieve traffic on the current Noida-Greater Noida Highways (above). Build, Operate, Transfer (BOT) will be the model used to carry out the construction work. The authorities made the decision to construct the road in November 2023 in order to improve connectivity between Noida and Greater Noida.

Airport Influence

In order to improve communication between Noida and Delhi as well, the Noida authorities urged the NHAI to undertake this project, particularly in light of the upcoming construction of the greenfield Noida International Airport in Jewar. If it owns the land, NHAI is able to finance the project. In order to transfer the land to the NHAI so that it can build the project, the authorities informed the NHAI that they are in talks with the UP irrigation department, the owner of the embankment road.

Exploring Alternatives

The authority will look at other options if the NHAI decides not to take over and develop this project. However, in order to improve connection between Delhi and Noida airport, it is prioritising the NHAI. The alternative is to create this project on a BOT basis after enlisting the help of a private player or to finance it entirely on your own. The BOT option allows the authority to hire a private company to build the project, run it for a set amount of time to recoup the costs, and then turn it over to the government.
