Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked a significant milestone in Delhi’s urban development on January 3, 2025, by inaugurating and laying the foundation stones for multiple development projects aimed at enhancing the ‘Ease of Living’ for the city’s residents. The event, held in Ashok Vihar, spotlighted the government’s commitment to ‘Housing for All.’

PM Modi Inaugurates Swabhiman Apartments

As part of the In-Situ Slum Rehabilitation Project, PM Modi inaugurated 1,675 newly constructed flats at Swabhiman Apartments in Ashok Vihar. These flats are intended for the residents of Jhuggi Jhopri (JJ) clusters, providing them with dignified and modern living spaces. The Prime Minister personally handed over keys to eligible beneficiaries, symbolizing the government’s efforts to uplift marginalized communities.

This initiative marks the successful completion of the second In-Situ Slum Rehabilitation Project by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), showcasing a transformative approach to urban housing. The project reflects the government’s resolve to replace slums with well-constructed homes while keeping the original residents in the same locality.

Focus on Development and Livability

Speaking at the event, PM Modi emphasized that the newly constructed flats will significantly improve the living standards of the beneficiaries and contribute to Delhi’s holistic development. The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stones for other key infrastructure projects, reiterating his vision of a modern, inclusive, and well-planned urban ecosystem.

This milestone aligns with the government’s broader agenda of urban rejuvenation and reinforces its dedication to delivering housing and basic amenities to all sections of society. Through these projects, Delhi moves closer to becoming a model for sustainable and inclusive urban development.

The inauguration and foundation laying by PM Modi have set a new benchmark for housing reforms, promising a brighter and more equitable future for the residents of Delhi.
