On September 27, 2025, PM Narendra Modi arrived in Jharsuguda, Odisha, to launch development schemes worth more than ₹60,000 crore. The ambitious projects span rail, road, education, telecommunications, and digital infrastructure, aiming to boost connectivity and foster economic activity. Officials noted that the programs will link rural and urban centers more efficiently, provide new job avenues, and enhance trade opportunities, positioning Jharsuguda as a hub for growth and modernization in the region.

Beginning the Amrit Bharat Express

PM Modi pretty much started the Amrit Bharat Express during his visit. This is a new train service that goes from Berhampur in Odisha to Udhna in Gujarat’s Surat area. Along with making the journey easier, this train will improve connections between eastern and western India, which will help the economies of both areas. The service is set to start running normally on October 5, 2025.

Launch of 4G telecom towers in the country

One of the most important parts of the event was when Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) turned on more than 97,500 4G cell phone towers using a homegrown technology stack. This project, which costs about ₹37,000 crore, aims to improve digital connections in border and Maoist-affected areas as well as remote and underserved areas.

Building projects and education plans

To improve infrastructure, PM Modi opened a 5 km bridge in Sambalpur City that took 273 crore rupees to build. The goal was to reduce traffic jams and encourage urban growth. The Prime Minister also laid the groundwork for the growth of eight Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) across the country. These IITs will be able to accommodate 10,000 more students over the next four years.

Focus on indigenous technology and progress in the country

In his speech, PM Modi praised India’s progress in developing its own technology. He also talked about the country’s rising status in the world and said that India is now one of the five countries with the most technological progress. His love for Odisha’s art and culture was so great that he called it “world-famous.”

The fact that Prime Minister Modi went to Jharsuguda shows how committed the government is to growth in the country and in the region. The new programs are expected to improve schooling, infrastructure, and connectivity, which will help Odisha and the country grow and develop as a whole.
